Why am I seeing international fees on my account?
With new rules/laws on international charges, credit card companies are beginning to charge their customers when they purchase from a US-based company. Since Paula's Choice is a US-based company, even though we have a location in Australia, utilising PayPal provides all payment information to the financial institution you use, they are seeing that your payment is international, and therefore assessing the fees on some orders. Even though our account is in Australia, some financial institutions still recognise the brand as being international.
Each individual bank has their own international rules, which means they can charge customers based on individual rules in place with that financial institution, and the percentages they charge can vary as well. Since this is only affecting some customers who use PayPal, if you have the option to use Visa or MasterCard, those options will not have international fees associated with them, unless you are shopping with a card from another location outside of Australia.
If you have questions or would like more information about the fees that may be assessed by your financial institution, we encourage you to contact your bank directly.
